Call for EMDR Consultants and Practitioners to Join Training Faculty

The TRNA delivers EMDR Training in rural and remote areas in addition to declared disaster areas listed on the Department of Home Affairs Disaster Assist website. We have trained over 50 mental health clinicians in bushfire areas since 2020 with the assistance of EMDRAA Accredited Trainers, details of our projects can be found here.

To build capacity in regional areas, we have hired EMDR Consulting to develop a training program which can be adapted to the needs of the rural and remote mental health workforce. While meeting all 50 hours of the training curriculum set by EMDRAA, the program can be adapted  and is supported by an established learning management system (LMS), online resources and current EMDR information.

The nature of our work will inform how the program is delivered: working with remote communities and alongside disaster and humanitarian emergencies will require additional networks, understanding cultural safety from Indigenous perspectives, and providing services that meet local needs. We are seeking to build a team of Australian facilitators and trainers to present the program, which is designed to be delivered on-line by a trainer or in person. The training can be done over five days, or in half-day or full-day increments over a few weeks or months providing larger flexibility for participants.  Please go to Roy Kiessling’s website at EMDR Consulting to get an overview of the purpose and principles underlying this training.

The TRNA facilitator training program is open to EMDRAA Consultants and EMDRAA Accredited Practitioners who meet, or plan to meet the EMDRAA minimum requirements for consultant. If you are interested please submit an application with your CV. Applicants who meet the selection criteria will be interviewed for acceptance to the training. We will select up to 20 people based on skills, experience and commitment to humanitarian principles. Preference will be given, but is not limited to, EMDR therapists from regional areas.

The training will consist of 20 hours of consultation with senior trainers to learn the program and implement the resources available for mentoring trainees. If your application is approved, you will be assigned an account to watch the lectures online and take the MyQuest learning management course to become familiar with the training program. This can be done in 10 – 20 hours at your convenience. The training will be run for 2 hour sessions over 10 weeks, dates and times will be set in agreement with successful applicants. During the process we will identify a few people who have the qualifications, skills and aptitude to become an EMDRAA Accredited trainer to undertake further study in program delivery.

As soon as the faculty has been selected, the TRNA will apply to EMDRAA for Trainer Accreditation for our faculty in Australia.

After Training and upon appointment to the Faculty

Once you have been designated as a TRNA faculty team member, you will be paid a set rate for the work you do on designated projects, travel and accomodation will be provided. On occasion, you may be invited to provide pro-bono support to EMDR and other health first responders during disaster periods to help them manage the situation.

The TRNA is a not-for-profit organisation.  We are funding this training to create a faculty. If selected you will be expected to provide a minimum of one training course per annum and no more than 3 courses a year. You will not be allowed to use the TRNA training program for commercial purposes or personal gain. However, you may provide consultancy services for other EMDRAA approved training programs.
